Today we have another great special guest friend, I guess I can say colleague, someone I’ve been knowing for a long time. He’s a living legend, of course. But today we’re going to focus on more.

Also, you played at LSU and then you went on to get a master’s degree. And what’s the master degree with that?
VA
Education Administration Supervision.
LSU is doing a great job right now. We’re one of the leaders in the nation with African American students on campus, 16%. Now that’s number one for public institutions flagship institutions in the country. So we’ve done a great job. We have an African American President right now. A lot of progress has been made.

Got a long way to go.
VA
Well, a long ways to go, but I think a lot of things have been done for the best. And since the times that you were here at times before our parents couldn’t come here. Also, my parents went to Grambling and graduate school in Oklahoma, in order to get a master’s degree.
There are some things we need to do and improve on. We have two African American Deans, also College of Education and Dean of Business School. So we look at things that have taken place over the years. LSU is turning in the right direction.

Division I college athletes now can receive athletics scholarships that provide funds to help pay the full costs of attending college, such as travel and other expenses.
What is 5890 academic achievement?
The injunction the result of Pay for Play case provides that the NCAA may not limit the amount of cash or cash-like benefits related to education that student-athletes may receive annually to a level lower than the amount that student-athletes may receive for athletic achievements on top of a cost-of-attendance scholarship. (That amount is currently $5,890.)
